Trainer Academy

building local capacity for long-term impact

At MOVE, we believe that sustainable impact stems from building strong local capacity. Through training local trainers to deliver evidence-based interventions independently, we ensure that knowledge stays within communities and organisations long after our projects have ended.

Training of Trainers (ToT)

Our Training of Trainers (ToT) programme equips local trainers with the skills to deliver action-oriented interventions independently. Candidates actively practise their roles through real-world scenarios, ensuring they can apply what they have learnt immediately.

The ToT programme includes:

  • Action-Oriented Learning: Trainers take on the roles of both trainer and beneficiary, simulating training sessions to practise content delivery in dynamic, real-world scenarios.
  • Mastering Action Principles & Facilitation: Trainers are introduced to action regulation theory (Frese & Zapf, 1994) and action principles, learning to engage participants through role plays, case studies and active learning.
  • Feedback: Trainers deliver mock sessions and receive constructive feedback from peers and master trainers to enhance their facilitation skills.
  • Pilot Training & Certification: Ideally, trainers will conduct a pilot session with a small group of beneficiaries to demonstrate their skills. Master trainers then assess their performance and provide feedback, awarding certification to those who meet the required standard.

Coaching & Mentoring

Once trainers have completed the Training of Trainers (ToT) programme, we provide them with ongoing coaching and mentorship to help them continue to grow and adapt their delivery. This ongoing support helps them maintain high-quality standards and adapt their approach as needed. Coaching includes:

  • Regular check-ins and feedback sessions
  • Peer mentoring for shared learning and support
  • Access to resources and tools to keep up to date with the latest research and techniques
  • Support in adapting interventions to local contexts based on evolving needs

Trainer Networks for Global Impact

Our Trainer Academy is not just about individual growth. It’s about building a global network of trainers. These trainers can deliver consistent, high-quality interventions around the world.

This network facilitates:

  • International collaboration and knowledge exchange
  • Peer learning and community building across borders
  • Shared insights from different regions and cultural contexts

By creating a strong network, we ensure that our interventions remain sustainable and scalable on a global scale.
